How do I get liability insurance for a rental car in a foreign country? - rental car liability insurance

We travel to Spain this summer, and that neither the car rental (Avis and Hertz), our insurance provider Stateside (state) farm, or our company credit card (American Express) insurance business in a foreign country. I really appreciate any advice or experience anyone can have it.

I do not think that Avis and Hertz do not clarify their information about insurance in Europe. Liability insurance (liability and basic goods) is in the price of the vehicle, until the minimum limits established by the laws of each country needed included.

If they say that insurance is not purchased, no way of options for additional insurance to buy.

You will notice that many reserve a car in the United States that is an insurance an option called ALI (eg, additional insurance) - What does the cover of the tenants to increase public liability and property damage worsening beyond the minimum statutory prescribing it. (The car is automatically covered up to the minimum required for liability).

When you call a representative of Hertz or Avis, you will be able to confirm that the basic liability insurance is already included in the rental prices in Spain. Remember, only the liability and property damage that is covered .. No damage or theft of the rental car itself.

Hope this helps!

You must obtain insurance from a supplier in Spain. Perhaps it was his agent, said some coverage at Lloyd's of London, can sometimes help.
